Mary Lise Patterson

I was born and raised in Mississippi, but have been happily settled in Dothan, AL for almost twenty years. After receiving a nursing degree from the Universiity of MS I worked in critical care and cardiac rehabilitation. After leaving the nursing field to raise my children, I had more time to pursue my passion of flower arranging. My Mother, an avid gardener and cultivator of over 100 roses, made artistic arrangements for church services, receptions, hospitalized friends, and for my sorority house during rush week, Like her, I have never had a formal class on floral design. I get ideas from garden and floral design books, from travel, and from the internet. My Mother was my first teacher and gave me many valuable tips and advice that I still use today. In May of 2014, Vicki Harris and I started a floral design business called Garden Gate - Fresh Arrangements Inspired by Nature. My two sisters encouraged me to start this blog which is dedicated to the memory of my Mother, Maxine McDaniel Patterson.
