Stop and Smell the Roses: 5th Annual Wiregrass Rose Society Show Set for Saturday

The stormy weather has subsided here in the Dothan area, and the weather will be lovely over the next few days.  What a perfect weekend for the 5th Annual Rose Show presented by the Wiregrass Rose Society!   Whether you are a novice rose gardener or a true Rosarian, the show is a great opportunity to enter your own rose entries or to simply enjoy the show and learn more about rose cultivation from seasoned rose gardeners.  The show’s organizers will be present to help categorize roses if an entrant is unsure which one to place their roses in. (Pictures below are from the 2013 show)

All entrants should bring their rose specimens to the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church between 7:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M.  Judging will be completed by 1:00 P.M., and the competition hall will be open to the public starting 1:00 P.M.  Entries are represented in several different categories such as Hybrid Tea, Grandiflora, Floribunda, Old Garden, shrub, and climbers.   Artistic arrangements will be featured that carry out this year’s theme, “America The Beautiful”.
